I have a sweet tooth so relish the chance to eat anything sweet if I can ‘get away’ with it because it’s a healthy version.
And these recipes sure are healthy.
Chickpeas contain protein, slow release carbs, fibre and something called ‘resistant starch’ which is what makes legumes (and cold, cooked potatoes incidentally) so very filling.
And filling is great when you’re trying to keep calories lower to lose weight. Who wants to go hungry? Not me!
I made 4 recipes from one tin of chickpeas, based on the drained weight being 240g (so 80g per portion), but don’t worry about it being exact.
The method for all 4 recipes is the same. Simply mash the chickpeas, then mix in the additional ingredients. If it’s too dry add a little of the liquid from the tin. This stuff is called aquafaba, and is actually a funky ingredient itself, being an egg white replacement (for vegans or allergies) in mousse, meringues or baking.
