Eating Seasonally – Summer

We don’t always get the most fantastic Summers in the UK, but since different crops thrive in different conditions, there will always be something delicious and home grown to see us through the (sunny or not) Summer months. By no coincidence many of the vegetables available can be eaten raw – perfect when we’re in the mood for picnics, barbeques and bright salads.

Vegetables

artichoke, asparagus, aubergine, beetroot, broad beans, broccoli, carrots, chillies, courgettes, cucumber fennel, french beans, garlic, jersey royal new potatoes, kohlrabi, lettuce & salad leaves, mangetout, marrow, new potatoes, onions, pak choi, peas, peppers, potatoes (main crop), radishes, rocket, runner beans, samphire, spinach, spring onions, sweetcorn, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, wild nettles, wild mushrooms.

Fruit


apricots, bilberries, blueberries, cherries, damsons, figs, gooseberries, greengages, kiwi fruit, loganberries, melon, nectarines, peaches, plum, strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants.

Herbs
